Kickstarter Custom Cocktail: Zac's Smoky Ginger October 27 2013

Smoky ginger

One of the best parts of the ReJigger Kickstarter campaign was working with folks to develop their own Rejiggered custom cocktail. We got quite a variety of fun and exciting cocktails that we'll slowly be featuring on Home Cocktail Revolution. Our fist custom cocktail is Zac's Smoky Ginger, which is a great cocktail for scotch lovers. The combination of a smoky scotch, honey, lemon, and ginger result in an intense, sophisticated cocktail.

We'll start by muddling some fresh ginger in a pint glass. I used 3 good sized slices of ginger, but you can add more or less depending on how much you like ginger. If you don't have a muddler, you can use a wooden spoon. The goal is to just smash the ginger a bit to release some of its juices. Next we'll pour a smoky scotch into the main compartment of the ReJigger. One of my favorites is a Lagavulin 16 year, but you can use your scotch of choice. Then add some fresh lemon juice in the next largest compartment followed by honey syrup in the smallest compartment. Scotch and honey just really seem to go well together. Add ice and the rest of your ingredients to the pint glass with the ginger in it. Give it a good shake and strain it into a chilled glass over ice. Cheers!
