Punch drunk shrub

Valentine's Day often gets a bad rap for being an overly commercial holiday, but having a day dedicated to telling someone how much you love them isn't really that bad is it? Here at Home Cocktail Revolution, we think the best way to tell someone you love them is by making them a delicious cocktail. So this week, we'll be sharing some of our favorite Valentine's Day cocktails.

Our first cocktail is the Punch Drunk Shrub and it's the perfect way to kick off your Valentine's Day. It's a refreshing combination of gin, pomegranate juice, and blood orange shrub, all topped with a sparkling rose. Start by making the blood orange shrub a couple days ahead. Blood oranges have a really intense flavor and give this cocktail a beautiful red color. There's a great recipe for blood orange shrub over at foodinjars.com. Once you have your blood orange shrub, you're ready to make the cocktail.

Pour your favorite gin in the large compartment of the ReJigger, followed by pomegranate juice in the medium compartment. Add the blood orange shrub to the small compartment before combining it all with ice in a pint glass. Give it all a good shake to mix and chill the cocktail before straining it into a champagne flute. Top it with a splash of sparkling rose and enjoy with that special someone.
