ReJigger Pumpkin Spice Latte October 30 2013
Well, it's finally starting to feel like fall here in California. And since we don't really have fall colors here to tell us it's fall, I rely on the arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks to tell me it's time to start making fall cocktails. So, what better way to kick off fall cocktails than with an homage to the Pumpkin Spice Latte? This is a really fun cocktail that is perfect to enjoy while passing out candy on Halloween.
We'll start with some Jameson Irish Whiskey in the large compartment of the ReJigger. Then to make it a "latte" we'll add milk or cream to the next compartment. For the coffee component we'll use some Kahlua coffee liqueur in the smallest compartment. We'll add some pumpkin butter and a whole egg to the pint glass before adding ice and the rest of our ingredients.
Depending on the pumpkin butter, you can also add additional pumpkin pie spices like cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves. I use a Kozlowski Farms Old Fashioned pumpkin butter that has a good blend of spices so I don't add any additional spices. The egg will give you the creamy texture of a latte and it will also act as an emulsifier to blend all the ingredients together. Once all the ingredients are in the pint glass, give it a good shake. When using eggs in cocktails, it's important to give it an extra good shake to get the texture right. After a good shake, strain it into a glass and enjoy!
